Design Practice
Information
Thomas Bugg is a London-based multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker and designer working across moving image, installation, sound and performance. His work explores fleeting and often intangible elements of human experience, drawing on narrative and sensory engagement to build emotionally resonant encounters.
He holds an MA in Information Experience Design from the Royal College of Art and a First Class BA in Graphic Communication Design with Creative Computing from Central Saint Martins. Alongside his personal practice, he has taught on the MA Biodesign programme at Central Saint Martins and co-founded Applied Logic, a collective exploring intersections of design, technology and culture.
Thomas’s work has been shown at a range of festivals and independent spaces including Dutch Design Week, Iklectik Art Lab, and Corner 7 Gallery. His installations have featured in events hosted at institutions such as the Silk Street Theatre (Barbican Centre), and the IRCAM Forum (Centre Pompidou), as part of student and group exhibitions. He was part of the creative team behind the Brighton Fringe production, ‘Sitting in Silence’, awarded the Emerging Company Award in 2025.
His professional design experience includes contributing to projects via studios such as Companion, Ben Kelway Studio and Accept & Proceed, for clients including Nike, Arena Homme+ and &Daughter. His work has been featured by Thames & Hudson, Design Week, Campaign and People of Print, and has earned a D&AD New Blood Yellow Pencil, as well as shortlist recognition for the LVMH Maison/0 Green Trail Award.
Thomas is currently developing Up and Coming, his second short film. Open to collaborations across film, stage and digital media, his practice continues to navigate the intersections of storytelling, materiality and lived experience.
